Default Battery questions for 2012 xkr

Ok. Battery questions. Had to install a new battery - I was expecting this as the battery that was in the car was 6-7 years old. So where does this connector go? Should have taken a before picture, so not sure where this was connected
Well, the 2012 XKR I just bought, battery died. I kind of expected it as the battery that was there was 6-7 years old.
Questions: 1) where does the connector in the picture go. 2) I got an AGM type battery. The original vent tube tucked to the side of the original battery. I don't think it was connected at all. I do see a hole, but the hose is bigger than the hole. Is there a fitting that can be attached to vent the battery or is the vent tube even needed?

BTW, to get the battery out for those of you who have a cross bar held in by 4 bolts- I had to remove the cross bar as well. I also had to loose the side clamp a bit to give myself a liitle more as the cables and other wiring was a bit tight.

Secondly, I stacked some plywood on top of the spare and brought the wood almost level with the battery. Made it much easier get the battery in and out of it's compartment, just fyi.

It was a fun adventure, lol. But at least the car runs. Now I have to reset a few things. , , ,

Thanks much in advance for your answers.

I believe that connector is for the 'shipping relay' or whatever it's called. The relay is removed by the dealer upon receipt. The relay allows the car to power off and such stuff so it can be shipped without incident.

Cool. I did start it up before I buttoned it back up. Seemed to be running fine. So, I did close it all back up.

Do you know about the vent tube? Is it really necessary? I have read on here that it is on one of the threads that describes how to take the battery in and out. But elsewhere on the net, I have seen that an AGM battery does not need venting . . . Wondering if it is just one of those preference things.

It should be vented as charging lead-acid produces hydrogen. Best to get something that will connect to the tube.
