Default Beautiful Luggage Compartment Finisher - Thank you Sov211

Thank you Gregory (sov211) for providing the part # C2P 20762. I received it today and it looks fabulous and it really gives the boot a proper finish. It is a solid piece of brushed and polished metal that simply goes over the existing plastic trim. Finally, world order has been restored!

Now you need the Luggage Compartment carpet to finish it off.

Exactly; the combination of the stainless steel trim piece and that very thick carpet really finish the luggage compartment.
Now Michael, perhaps you want to move on to the interior of your beautiful '07 (identical to mine) and upgrade the column stalks to the later items with the chrome bands, the door tweeters with the chrome rings, the door-mounted seat controls in brushed silver with chrome trim and finally, upgrade to the later walnut window switch panels (which require the later switch packs). Whew!
This makes your XK the carriage it was meant to be. My car has all these upgrades and it really makes a difference if you are a leather/chrome/wood kind of guy (and I know you are).

I am addicted to leather, wood and chrome. Next step is the boot carpet! Then on to the interior.
Gregory, do you still have the 1966 Mk 2? Can you post an interior pic of it?

The interior of my 1966 Mk 2, which is original (the car has just 25,000 original miles on it). And the other photos are of my 07 XK with the upgrades I mentioned.

Thank you for sharing. This is a part I have long considered however am a bit put off by the idea of a "stick-on" part as opposed to a replacement part. How is the finished product, can you tell how it was installed? How would it affect the ease of removing the plastic piece underneath it?

jahummer -

This is not a cheap 'aftermarket' stick on product, rather it is an OEM trim piece that was designed to fit perfectly. The quality is top notch and when it is installed, it completes the car. Using clear silicon, I put four beads on the inside of the trim piece and simply pressed it in place and let it sit overnight. The next day it was solid to the touch. If I ever want to remove it, I can simply pry it off with no damage to anything. Clear silicone is very forgiving and is easily removable. You could even use a couple of pieces of quality double sided tape as well.

Truly one of my favorite Jaguars of all time; the leather and wood is a work of art. With only 25,000 miles it's still under warranty! :-)

And it runs beautifully in a 50-year-old way; I love driving it and I use it all year long provided the roads are dry. But let's not talk about fuel economy. When this car was built (January 4, 1966), regular gasoline cost $0.36 per IMPERIAL gallon (4.4 litres, so that is about $0.07 per litre). Today in Victoria it is $1.22 per LITRE. I swear that I can see the needle in the fuel gauge move. Compared to this, the XK is a super-economy car (ah....but the beauty and the speed and the comfort and the...)

Thank you for the response. I know it is OEM, but it does not replace anything, it goes over the existing part and as you have clarified, it does not attach unless you glue it on.

Sorry I was not clear, I meant how difficult would it be to remove the entire tread plate(s) from the car for any possible service together in one piece? The existing plastic one takes a few screws and the weather strip be removed. Does the new part affect the disassembly?

Thank you!

It does not affect the disassembly, it will still allow you to remove the original plastic piece as you described.

Where to you source this chrome trunk piece?

I installed this same oem part after I picked up my 2011 XKR Coupe. It definitely elevates the experience of opening the hatch. I had installed the same finisher in my previous '09 supercharged XF along with the thick carpet liner. I can find the jaguar part number for the carpet for '13 and up coupes, but not for the 2011. Does anyone know if there were any changes to the shape of the Coupe floors? Thanks.

I'd like to know as well.

There are small differences between my '07XK and '10 XKR battery cover, but not sure it alters the main trunk footprint.
I'd love the carpet look, but then I'd loose the hold down netting I put in. and that has been invaluable.

Vince

Oh, and off the trunk topic, the drivers side foot-well carpet is distinctly different between my 2007 and 2010.

The carpet mat fits every XK, and all of these parts are available through any Jaguar dealer - these are all genuine Jaguar accessories and parts.

I found mine at Terry's Jaguar parts. https://www.terrysjag.com/

Treadplate part # C2P20762 $268 bucks. If you shop around you might find a better price, but I like Terry's and prefer to give them my business. Price is NOT a factor for me...service is.
