Default Black Wheels

Were black wheels standard on the XKRs 2007 - 2015 or are they an option? I personally do not care for them so is it easy to sell them and buy the polished wheels? There are XKR Convertibles for sale with the black wheels but is that reason to move on from the car and wait for one with the polished wheels, or at least one without black wheels?

Also, how common were the polished wheels? It seems most non-black are painted and not polished.

Thank you.

Black wheels were not standard equipment (and that is a good thing; black wheels give the impression that the owner has never bothered to wash the brake dust off). Combination black/dark grey and polished wheels were available in the larger sizes in the later years. Most of the XK wheels were in silver metallic paint or polished alloy.
i have never seen an XK or XKR with fully black wheels (and I hope I never do). I know…I’m insufferable.

A enthusiast in my area has an early xkr in matte black with blacked out wheels, heavy window tint, red window surround trim, an enormous red Leaper on the side and red chasing lights under the front bumper. Yeah, not caring for the black wheels either. Lol

Default Examples

Here are two examples. Based upon the two replies I now believe these are aftermarket wheels.

Anyone have any idea of the cost to purchase original polished wheels?

The 2nd photo I can see are the Orona style wheels. I have silver ones on my XK. There are Orona wheels that have the color 'Anthracite' that you can buy from Jaguar parts stores. Coming from a country steeped in coal mining, I know anthracite is a mighty fine coal type, so those could be original Jaguar black wheels (Orona Anthracite).

I saw someone selling a set on eBay recently (not me...) - here's the link for more photos: https://www.ebay.com/itm/204271457092

I've seen enough XKRs with black Takoba wheels to assume they were standard issue, but maybe people are just all buying them aftermarket

Black wheels were available through the Jaguar Accessories Catalog. (5.0L)

Default Good info

Thanks for the info. It appears to me I could buy non-black wheels for about $3k if I find "the one" with the only thing wrong being it has black wheels

Yeah, don’t pass on a car due to the wheels, they’re replaceable. Besides, if you could find ‘the car’ with ‘the wheels’, you may just hit a serious pothole on your first drive, and have to replace one or two of them anyway.

Be VERY careful, as nearly everyone who sells "XK WHEELS" merely market the XF wheels as compatible. THEY ARE NOT COMPATIBLE. The XK wheels have a different offset and XF wheels on an XK are sunken into the wheel well and look ridiculous.

My XKR has the black Kalimnos wheels, referenced in the graphic Stuart S posted. I admit they weren't exactly what I was looking for when shopping, but I don't mind them.
