Default Bluetooth Mic Quality

Have done a search for this issue and while I found a few posts for similar problems on other Jags I didn't see anyone complaining of a similar issue on the XK or XKR. I have owned my 2007 XKR for 2 months now and my only complaint is from people who I call using my Blackberry connected to the Jag's factory Bluetooth (even with the roof up!). Conversations are painful, full of 'what did you say', 'sorry I can't hear you', and 'can you hear me now?'. The incoming sound quality is great though. The same phone connected to my BMW has no issues at all. Have others experienced this? If so is it easy to upgrade the mic?

Thanks davewhitt. Looks like we have the same bulletin in the US (JTB00021NAS2) and call quality is a recognized issue. A trip to the dealer is in order.

similar situation with my '08 .... bluetooth quality is 'ok' .... but it is great with BMW .... I've just written it off as 3 years newer technology

I would have reached the same conclusion except my former 06 5-series was also great quality over Bluetooth. Will let everyone know when I get the mod done if it makes a noticeable difference.

I am not sure where your mike is but my nephew has a 2007 xkr and he found they there was some type of recall on it. His mic was not on the window post and they moved it to the post and since it works great

Thanks dd823. You're right, that's exactly what the technical bulletin recommends as I understand it. Looking forward to getting it done to my XKR soon.

I have a 2010 with the mic mounted on the surface of the driver's A-pillar.
With an iPhone 3Gs on ATT connected via Bluetooth, some people say my voice is distant, other's can hear me clearly.

I have the exact same problem after buying a pre-owned 2007 xor.

It seems that a bulletin deals with this :

TECHNICAL BULLETIN JTB00021v4 30 JUL 2007

SECTION: 419-08 - Cellular Phone
Phone Call Quality Poor to Third-Party

Cause: This is a combination of microphone positioning and noise cancellation/signal processing within the phone system software.
Action: Should a customer express concern, install a new external microphone and depending on VIN, re- configure the Bluetooth Telephone Module using Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS). Follow the Service Instruction outlined below.
