I have read other post concerning the Bluetooth microphone appearing to be on mute or the third-party not able to hear calls from the microphone. I was wondering is there any kind of diagnostic that can be performed or reset that can be performed that is specific to the Bluetooth? There are times when it does not work I may start and stop the car for a few errands and then the microphone works again there is no rhyme or reason at this point I've tried undocking in repairing the phone restarting the phone etc.

What kind of phone are you using. Also what year is your XK? Basically my experience along with other members is that Iphones and Jaguars don't get along. Android phones work well. I have a Galaxy 6 Edge and have never had an issue.

I have a 2010 XKR Convertible. iPhone 6s Plus. I did not have issues initially. I have not received any new OS updates. To test I simply have been querying Siri because when things are working she picks me up over the microphone. There is a kind of visual sound reference with this version of iOS and it shows basic peaks and valleys of your voice. Some times they are flatlined and other times very noisy and Siri thinks I am asking "are you" and nothing else. When working everything functions as designed. I was testing with a family member and they thought they heard me working on something as if I had pocket dialed and didn't know I called. They said they could hear tapping, bump sounds and general racket. I assume this is when Siri thinks I am asking "are you" which of course I am not. I tried to reset by disconnecting the battery and going through that process. First time tests after were successful. Like I said it is sporadic. I try without audio system running. I try with engine on and off. No trigger detected thus far.

What Ralph said. Dump the iphone and get a real phone. Or, maybe the mic on the A-pillar has a loose wire or something. Regardless, dump the iphone.

I have had the same problem with my original flip phone (pantech) and then my iphone 6. I could hear people but they couldn't hear me clearly. I took it to the dealer numerous times and they said some customers cars work fine and others don't. They said the car was working fine. I decided to disable my bluetooth and just deal with it. End of my story.

I have a Samsung Convoy flip phone which works as it is supposed to. I am about ready (forced) to go into a Samsung prime smart phone as I had to get off of my old plan and take a data plan. Hopefully the new phone will work but either way I'll post my results.

I have an iPhone 6 Plus, no Bluetooth problems at all. On early XK's (2006-2008) they had the internal microphone which was swapped out for an external one which did make a lot of difference to quality of the call.

There have been a lot of firmware versions of the Bluetooth module over the life of the XK, maybe try a firmware flash.

With my 07 xkr, paired with iPhone 5, I was told by several people that they could not hear me while I was driving. When the car was in for service I asked about doing the mic on the pillar. The tech said he tried the Bluetooth and could not replicate the problem. He did not do anything with the mic. I called the service center while driving, and my friend who works there said it sounded like any other Bluetooth (no great but she could hear me just fine). Since then I have noticed that when I sit in traffic people can hear me, it seems when I accelerate people ask me to repeat myself... Therefore, my theory, is that the lovely engine noise, that we all enjoy listening to, is also audible to the person we are speaking with and maybe that is why they have difficulty hearing us at times. Just a thought

I wish it was that simple!

Just an update here. I have moved to the smart phone world due to my minute contract does not allow me to increase my minutes. So my bride and I had to go to a data plan and doing so I gave up my flip phone. So I just paired it with all of our cars and other then me not going back to the OM on the jag I finally have everything done. Now mind you I am using a bottom technology smart phone (a learner) so I will be on a fast learning curve. OK down to the nuts and bolts. 2012 XKR and the phone is a Samsung Core Prime phone . After reading the OM again the pairing process was to use 1313 as the code and disregard the code on the nav. screen. I'm on a Verizon plan . The phone paired and stored all of my contacts so I'm on my way.
