Default Brake upgrade for 2009 XK

Serious question... the brakes on my XK feel a it spongy. There is plenty of pads left and are factory Jaguar. They are also a dust tornado! lol. Alcon brakes are impossible to find, been looking. Any other options that are avail? Thx

Are you sure you don’t just have an air bubble in a line? Spongy is not a term I’d use for my XK brakes. Maybe just blead the lines.

I don’t have any reason to suspect an air bubble since service history is at dealer.

Over time water also gets into the lines affecting the braking system, as kj said perhaps it's time to bleed the system

Sponginess is going to be part of the hydraulics or inconsistent power assist.

When was the last time brake fluid was changed?

Change it and bleed thoroughly.

If still spongy, check none of the flexible hoses need replacing.

You need more than just rotors and calipers to retrofit the Alcon Performance Brake system to your XK. You'll also need brackets and parking brake parts. It can (and, as I recall, has) been done but it's very expensive, particularly if you have to pay for labor. Maybe for an XKR that's tracked, but an Alcon conversion doesn't make sense for an XK.

Will do a brake fluid exchange/flush and bleed the brakes. Thanks

It also shouldn't be horribly expensive to do the //R upgrade from salvaged parts. I'd buy the rotors and pads new. The rest is bolt on parts from the S type, XK and XJ donors.
