Default Broken door tweeter housing - potential solution

Just wanted to post this as a potential tip. I’m sure everyone knows how fragile those tweeter housings are on the car door. And I’m sure you also know how ridiculously expensive they are to replace second hand!

I broke the ring surround on my housing when removing it for work on the door. It’s been bugging me for a long time. So I took a punt on buying some cheapy stick on Grand Jeep Cherokee tweeter trims on Ebay. See attached.

While they’re not a perfect solution, they’re virtually the correct size and they cover the broken ring just fine for me. I was lazy and just stuck them on, but I would imagine if you spent some time working out a simple fix for keep the speaker mounted from the rear of the housing, you could also remove the broken part and replace with these for a snugger fit.

Unless you knew that this was a cheap cove mounted with 3M, you’d never spot it was a cheap add on. The attached flash photos are not the most flattering though and they look better in person.

I’m just glad I don’t have stare at the unsightly break every time I’m driving and thought it might be useful for others with a similar problem…..
