Default Buy Rear Brake Sensors?

Changing rear brake pads (EBC Reds) and rotors (Cquence performance dimpled/slotted)

Do I need to purchase the brake sensors?

None of the tutorials linked on the site discuss them. My change brakes light is on.

You should always state year and model! e.g I don't think my '07 doesn't has brake sensors.

Hope this helps, Adrian

I apologize.

It's a 2011 Jaguar XK.

I don't 'need' sensors on it, I could just visually inspect the brakes. I was under the impression the warning light wouldn't clear unless the sensors were changed.

If I do need them, do I need two for both sides?

Does anyone know the parts #?

I believe the wear sensors are the typical wire type which when worn on the disk cause an open circuit which turns on the warning system. If that is the case you can put a jumper in the connector and it will make the system think there is no wear on the pads. Although I don't recommend this it is up to you . If you want to replace them either Jaguar or other brake supply places have them.

Do you know if they're on both sides? (as in I need two?)

Rears are here:
SNG Barratt - The Ultimate Jaguar Parts Specialist

Fronts i would need your VIN. We would always recommend replacing with the pads. There is only one front and one rear (again VIN depending) required and the price is very reasonable.

At those prices, it's absolutely worth it.

Just placed order.

I think I was wrong! According to Gaudin I do have wear sensors; one at each end!
Do these sensors really wear out?

I know the ABS ones should be cleaned; not too often, unless you drive in muddy conditions.
Cheers, Adrian
