Default Buyers guide?

Can anyone direct me to a buyers guide for a 2008 XK 4.2?
i previously owned the X100 version and now my son is looking at an X150.

I’ve read about boot water leaks, condensation in head and tail lights and stone damage to compressors but there must be other things. Obviously I’m most interested in things that are expensive to repair or end the life of the car.

Thanks
kevin

You would have found this yourself if you Googled "Jaguar X150 Buyer's Guide". From the UK:
https://classicsworld.co.uk/guides/j...-buying-guide/

This Forum has the answers to all of your questions. Exactly what do you want to know? You're considering buying a car that's over 16 years old, and anything can (and will) go wrong and need attention - especially all the rubber parts, including but not limited to suspension bushings, hoses, weatherstripping, and seals. Leather dashboards can bubble and shrink and seats can split.

My best advice is that after you find "the one", pay a local independent technician who is knowledgeable and experienced with the X150 to do a Pre-Purchase Inspection to the Jaguar Certified Pre-owned standards, as detailed in this Checklist:

Get it in writing, including parts and labor estimates for needed repairs. That technician should use the Jaguar SDD software to get all of the stored Diagnostic Trouble Codes. In addition, he should inspect the undercarriage and body for and repairs and paint work.

Don't be fooled by a "clean CarFax" or similar report. CarFax reports only what participating shops report to them. You can rely on CarFax to not buy a car, but you must never rely on CarFax to buy a car. Read the CarFax Terms of Use: https://www.carfax.com/company/terms-of-use

The X150 is aluminum, and they can suffer from corrosion to the chassis and body that is caused by exposure to salt - including what's in the air in oceanside communities and what's spread on the roads during winter.

As always, only you can do your due diligence. Used car dealers know every trick in the book - they're pros who sell cars every day. They can put lipstick on a pig to make it look beautiful, so don't be fooled - it's still a pig.

Good luck, and happy hunting!
