Tarokyama, how did you get access to yours - did you cut or move the felt/carpet mat? I tried to get a hand down above the transmission and can only feel the mat above it, seems odd that the mat would obscure the duckbill, wouldn't there be a hole cut in the mat to allow the water out? How is the mat fixed to the firewall, can it be dropped a bit to allow access?
I tried the "fast fans with vents closed" trick a couple of times, on both occasions I got no water in the footwell and loads of it dripping onto the road under the car. Almost as soon as the climate control is set back to auto I get water in the footwell again. This, and a few other current issues, are really sucking the joy out of owning this car for me just now, it's days in my possession may be numbered.
I know how a niggling problem can bring on feelings of despondency because I am like that myself. But I'd suggest you persevere and get the problem fixed. If you can't do it yourself, get your local Indie to do it for you, using the methods described in these pages - they are bound to have come across it before. The X150 is a truly wonderful car and unique among high-end GTs in being generally reliable with sensible costs of ownership. Any similar car you go to will doubtlessly have its own set of issues and probably cost more to fix.
I totally get that the niggles are spoiling your enjoyment right now - but get them fixed and then you will have one of the best cars of its type ever made. And one you can happily enjoy for many, many years, all at a very reasonable cost.
Thanks both. barnsie, part of the problem is there is no good Jaguar-specialist indie garage much closer than three hours' drive from here and the local dealer is not great. I ordered an inspection camera which arrived yesterday though, hopefully that will help find the blockage. Going to drop the blower motor and see if I can get the camera into the inside of the unit where the condensate drains out.

I seem to recall that when someone tried drilling through the box, or cutting an access hole, they ran into a lot of foam type material in there, so it may not just be ‘empty space’ and block your camera access, but good luck trying.
Those appear to have a straight rigid shaft, so you won’t be able to get it in there.
well, I think flexible ones do exist also, esp. electrodes.
But unclear if heating the duck bill will make it melt only or really burn, which of course would be an issue...

I've had my 2007 XK for a year now and just encountered the water in the footwell issue. After reading through the options to remedy this I have chosen to hand cut the duck bill by hand. Today i've taken delivery of an Endoscope camera ( Lightswim Wireless Endoscope Ł26.90 from Amazon ) , works brilliantly from my iPhone and has all the necessary attachments.
I will be making some cutting tools and with patience, hope to stop the water coming through into the cabin.

I guess it shouldn't be a surprise to me that this issue caused exact replication of the same problems... thanks for the tip on the blower motor - add a few more cases of beer and a bottle of scotch to the IOU list. My pal who does all his own work on his 1970 XKE, Aston and Porsche is going to be helping me with the repairs so hopefully a look at your posts and a few tequila shots will also help me get this worked out, too. I'm in Syracuse, NY - way upstate, from the city anyway. Last year we had a break in the weather in late Feb early Mar and I got the car out of storage, only to have Apr be one of the snowiest on record here - hoping that was an anomaly! I don't have any real concern about insects here, so may go ahead and chop that duckbill right off.
I bet that maroon top looks sweet - keep working on him, maybe he'll come down on the price - the matching pair would be awesome!

Guys, it can be fixed in an hour, no need to remove dash, no need to drill any holes or removing blower, no need to lower the transmission, no need to buy a camera. Hi Crawford, I actually did the job myself. One thing to note from the posts above is that the 07 xk apparently has a different bill configuration than the 09 supercharged which is what I have. FYI I followed the instructions that were posted by @GR8BR1T above exactly, see post #177.
PM me if you want to have a phone call and I can talk you through the process and perhaps we can meet up and I can take a look at your engine and see if your process will be similar - you may not need to remove anything - I had to because of the supercharger. Btw I couldn't snip mine, not enough space and protrusion, so I did the lube job - I repeat this every spring when I get the car out of winter storage.
I had another attempt at this tonight, still can't reach the end of the duckbill but I did at least manage to get my inspection camera in this time. Despite my car's VIN being a couple of thousand after the new part was apparently introduced it does look like the old one to me:
I found I was able to get my right hand in furthest by kneeling on the suspension turret, compared to standing on the car. Anyone who's managed to get their hand on the end of the pipe able to suggest any other ways to maximise your reach?
I did wonder, based on something I saw in another thread; if I remove the center air vents on the dash then would there perhaps be a route down to that from above with a wire coat hanger and something soaked in silicone lube on the end, has anyone tried that? Failing that I think I'll get a pair of long-handled scissors and see if I can just chop the end off from the engine bay...
Tape a scalpel or similar to the end of the camera?
I did mine just standing by the side, or maybe I had a knee on the strut tower. Just in a tshirt. I'm no bodybuilder, and if you are, get your way-too-skinny mistress to do it...

The camera scope really is just used as a visual reference when you go the home made scalpel route. You can feel your way there with a finger mounted blade. If you take the time to research back through this thread, you will learn what worked and what failed. It is worth your time not to repeat our mistakes.

And when it comes to the A/C "preventive" operation: I know one should set the fan to max and close the vents, but what about the other A/C parameters?

Yes, your '06 has the bad duckbill but it might have been fixed by previous owner. You will know if/when water starts dripping on the passenger floor.
Don't think preventive operation will help, duckbill will need slicing!:-)

Thanks, I have read this thread a few times, the tricky thing for my is that my car is a 5.0 which has a piece of sound/fire proof matting between the transmission and the duckbill so access is further restricted. I was hoping to be able to reach it with my fingers and open it up again as tarokyama did but no luck. I'll put the camera in again this weekend and see if I can get something else in to help, e.g. long screwdriver with a Stanley blade attached etc.

No way you’re going to get that long stiff shaft into your kitty. Size matters, and in this case, shorter wins.
