Caliper Color and decals - Help!
This project has been rattling around in my head for a year! Yesterday I finally decided on a direction. First, the 07 Coupe is black on tan and I like the stock rims... so... found a powder coating company locally that showed me sample of calipers they've done. I am leaning towards dark metallic red - this coating comes out mirror finish and they will grind and smooth the stock calipers first ($150). All new drilled and slotted rotors in black with semi metallic pads ($620), and seriously thinking of powder coating the stock rims gloss black ($500). complete installation with new caliper parts ($350)
Here's the question! Jaguar decals (E-Bay) - white, metallic silver, dark green, black... or none!

There's a place about a mile from my house that does powder coating (Pike Powder Coating) I just found out about.
Can't wait! Now, what color would you choose for a 2007 XK Coupe in Seafrost Green?
Silver, red, green, black??? What do you think.
OEM rotors, Akebono pads. The metal strip that goes along the front of the caliper I could do a contrasting color would be cool.

What rims do you have? If they are stock brushed you might want to color match the calipers in seafrost. Remember K.I.S.S. principle!! I decided the bright red over clack drilled and slotted rotors and black stock rims. The only accent on the car is the brushed Mina front grills and chrome window moldings. We'll have to post some pics when they're done. Good luck!!

So, what do you think?
Current idea is to do the front main piece in red or orange, the outer piece in black and the clip on along the front in silver.
If it's only one color, red, orange, silver, or british racing green.
I like the multi color style so...
Please chime in.

Project Complete!!
Well... finally finished the styling mods I wanted. I chose not to paint anything, instead I went full powder coating on stock rims, calipers and Mina grills but left chrome ring around the top one and blacked out bottom. All new slotted and drilled rotors and semi-metallic pads. Fortunately I needed new rotors and pads anyway...so why not do it right!! Rear muffler removed for separate smaller singles and quad tips. Used the apron from the XKR to complete the look, but this still needs painted black to match the body.

nice car, well done on yur mods, was looking at same grill as yurs for my cat. Black in color too like yurs. On the chrome round the grill, i'm not to sure, kind of looks like the car has lips, i probably wud do black all over, yurs is complety black style, just my opinion, do not take offence

I also had reservations about the chrome, however my thought was that the front had no chrome at all, and the sides and rear do have just a touch. Thought this might compliment it. Never thought about the "lip look"... great! now I have to consider that every time I look at her (LOL)!! No offense taken - just kidding with you. I had also thought about doing it in red to match the calipers but too many suggested it a bit much. At least now it can go all black but could never bring it back to chrome. I think it would have been much better if the ring was half the thickness.

at the end of the day it's yur car, so as long as yur happy, we all can't drive the same ride. As u say maybe the chrome surround could be smaller, red could be an option.
Get someone to photoshop yur front picture , to change chrome color then you'll now, seen guys do it putting difffrent style rims on there car.
I have my 2007 xkr 2 months now, love it. If you type into search page my thread;
finally got pictures taken of my 1 month old xkr,, see what u think, love comments

For what it is worth, I painted my calipers myself, 3 years ago, with Hammerite paint. I went for black - but may go for a different colour if I ever get around to doing them again.
I didn't prep them or beyond a quick dust down - didn't take them off the hubs, just removed the wheel and painted them en-situ. I let the paint dry for 24hrs before driving, and they still look fine. Cost of paint £5.
Shiny black metallic.

I am going to use my Photoshop later to play with thinner chrome line and possibly red, but right now it's pleasing... so far! Will give it some time. Time for full detailing - got rather mucked up during all this Uggghhhh!!!
BTW everyone... STAY AWAY FROM THOSE REPLACEMENT WHEEL CAPS!! Ebay or Amazon - cheap hard plastic and the tabs have zero flexibility and break every time. I understand the powder coating reduces a few thousands to the centers but short of removing a bit, use only original parts.
