Default Can I prevent the A/C drain?

Hello all,

1) Is it possible to shut the airconditioning fully off in a 2007 xk?

2) Do the fans still work in this mode? So I can heat the car if needed (in my other car, I always turn the a/c off, but when it's cold for example, the fans can blow hot air, but with the a/c turned off).

The reason I'm asking is this: I don't like airco, it makes my throat hurt And in every other car I have ever owned, I almost never used the airconditioning.

If the a/c can be turned off in an xk, but still blow hot air when it's cold, I can also prevent the dreaded a/c leak.

Thanks !!

PS. English is not my first language

Sure you can. On a climate settings screen touch "econ" button and it will turn an A/C off.

And this shuts the airconditioning completely off? That's easy

And the fans still work in this mode (blowing warm air if needed)?

Exactly so. A/C off, heater and blower continues to work.

I haven't checked the OM but in most modern cars when you turn on the defroster the AC also turns on. You may want to check that.

From the manual section on Windscreen defrost and demist:

Air conditioning switches on automatically (to dehumidify the air) and cannot be deselected.

You can select the defrost vents in econ mode but may not prevent window from fogging up as it doesn't pull the humidity out.

In the winter I don't see that being a problem but on a rainy humid day it is a must.
