Default Can we have another disagreement about which Oil to put in our X150?

Steve_K_XK's post under "what did you do to your X150 today" reminded me that there hasn't been a bitter argument about oil recently so here's a little link to get things started. Actually, I found it interesting along with the embedded videos (and of course, comments section)

Obviously, the only correct answer is salad oil.

Wasn't the first oil ever put into an internal combustion engine Whale Oil? To use others' argument....
"The engineers are much smarter than us, so whatever they say HAS to be the best and most obvious choice".... regardless of technological advances and other discoveries.

THEREFORE, I will now go and slaughter a whale so I can do my 5,000 mile service.

Remember, only sperm whales to fill your engine with sperm oil.

Wow I'm lucky on this one as I don't put oil in my car. The dealer does.

Next question: how often to change the oil?

Or: anyone for doing as the car maker says?

hmm, shouldn't this be in an Off Topic forum?

No. I want another disagreement about "Cheap nasty supermarket fuel harms your car / fuel is fuel is fuel - it all has to comply with the same spec, so it doesn't make any difference / I always use Hogwarts super-special magic gold-plated 20-star high-energy super-plus hi-tech fuel in my car, and I can always feel it running better & smoother / going faster / accelerating harder / wearing-out more slowly / smelling nicer / doing more mpg"

(Excuse me while I duck down quickly behind this protective wall of sandbags)

Wah! I feel so under-endowed, I can't find any Hogwarts around here. Of course, there's no gasoline available either, just gasohol.

I will say I learned a bit on the video. I had a high level understanding of the viscosities noted, but thought the W meant weight as it's commonly referred to as weight. Learned something new.

Personally I've run with full synthetics in all of my performance vehicles and due to my driving habbits I'm servicing roughly every 7000 km

With the jag I've used castrol, Mobil 1, penrite and tried out the nulon brand the other day.

I use this. After all, its 3 in 1.

Three!

In One!

How can you beat that?

Four in One would just be silly.

So your's saying I'm a bad person for pouring some decades old foam air cleaner oil in a gearbox last week? It had the pour consistency of Vaseline but was a really pretty blue and smelled nice.
