Default Cannot apply handbrake

Hi all,

a great 2018 to everybody!

After starting my XK 2007 today after a few days of standstill i suddenly got the message 'cannot apply parkbrake', with the amber light, accompanied by a chime sound.

a search in the forum gave me this:
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...-fault-115029/

which seems to be a similar issue.
i searched this XK section but a result didnt turn up.
Any advice on what to do ? do a reset, or go directy to the garage ?

Thanks a lot

Do a hard reset by disconnecting one battery cable and touching it to the other battery cable for a few seconds. Charge your battery with a good charger for several hours. Start the car, hold down firmly on the brake pedal then try to set the Park Brake again.

Battery may be on its way out.

EPB may need servicing/maintenance of course (and has probably been ignored till now).

The car is on a trickle charger so battery should be good. Will try the reset, if that doesnt work i'll visit the specialist. Thanks for your help!

Fixed! this morning it was still not working. Drove to the Jaguar specialist, who pulled the handbrake..and it worked. Typical.
