Default Cannot reset avg. fuel consumption

Hi all

On a 2012 XKR that I am considering buying, I had the odd problem that I was unable to reset the avg. fuel consumption in the board computer on the display. Isn’t this supposed to work when pushing the button on the indicator level for a few seconds? In fact it did show a reset message after pushing the button, but the consumption figure remained at the same value all the time, which it certainly should not just after reset. Is this some kind of known problem or what am I doing wrong (on other XKR the reset works as described)?

This btw is the car that was also missing the acoustic turn signal feedback, ie. the turn signals work as usual but in complete silence (see my other thread).

Regards
ter

Which mode are you in because there are three trip meters on the XK, Trip A, Trip B and Auto. You can definitely reset Trip A and B using the button on the end of the stalk but I don't think that you can reset it when it is in Auto. I haven't bothered testing so I might be wrong!

Auto resets every time you switch the ignition off and on but you can add the previous trip if you press the button on the end of the stalk.

If you are viewing Trip A or B can you reset it using the option in the touch screen?

Thanks! Seems more complex than I thought. Will need to read this up in the manual as it seems.

That's normal.

I have to hold the button in for a fairly long while to get it to reset, maybe 10 seconds or so? If I don't hold it in long enough, the average will not reset. Hold it in until the display clears showing ----
