Cardone MAFS
Good morning everyone.
I had some troubles with the drivers side MAFS in my 07 XKR. It was towards the end of the season when I believe it finally crapped out for good. So I sent it back. With the spring season coming soon it is time to order another.
So two quetions
Is it a required practice to replace both MAFS at the same time?
Has anyone had experience with A1 Cardone MAFS?
I can get two MAFS fro Rock Auto for half the price of a dealer or most online parts companies.
Thanks for any info I can get.

I bought an aftermarket MAF from Rockauto a couple of years back (don't remember the brand, but as I recall they only had one), didn't even put it in the car returned it to them immediately, the design was not the same as the OEM ones made by Denso. There was no hole in the middle of the sensor. Very strange. The picture on the site showed the right design, the one that turned up wasn't.
Since then I've bought three genuine MAF's for two different cars (XJR and XKR) and despite the costs, I do think it was the wise decision. Especially for the XKR with the amount of effort needed to get in there and change them, I only want to do that job once...

Certain things I would prefer to have OEM parts. I've seen aftermarket stuff even from good names not have the same specs as the originals. Bosch o2's are a great example. Ford stamped ones react way quicker versus the parts store replacements.
Plus I think on the XKR they are a matched set.

My understanding is that Denso is the oem vendor for Jaguar MAFs.
XK/XKR are very sensitive to any minor vacuum leak down stream from the MAF(s). MAFs are "sealed" with a rubber o-ring and it doesn't hurt/cost much to add a smear of silicon gasket sealer to this o-ring. MAFs are fastened to plastic housing with two self-threading screws. It is very easy to overtighten these screws causing the female threads in the mounting housing to strip/distort resulting in a loose MAF.
