cat converter
I personally have been trouble free but I recall one thread dedicated to the catalyst breaking free inside the container, causing problems. Most converter failures are covered under an extended warranty on emission components.

I did, at under 30K miles. See my post #20: Check Engine Light. Repair covered under the emissions warranty, no issues thereafter. Also see XK 2008 catalytic converter

hi guys thanks for your replys. its just something that has happend the odd time and i mean the odd time. its this when given the chance to floor it as you do from time to time. ive had a smell of the car. it stinks but its not like a clutch smell i would say as that lasts for days. this smell lasts for about 2mins then goes away. last time was when i over took my mate in his car it stank so mutch he could smell it in his car and he had his winndows clossed. i got a mechanic from the main dealer to come with me on a test drive no smell. got a friend of mine who owns a garage to come with me again no smell. put the car into main dealers 3 weeks ago for a health check. no probs reported. put it through an mot at freinds garage agin all fine. ive only a weeks waranty left on it and thats probly why im worried taggarts main dealer is looking for £1200 quid for extended warranty and im not going to do that
