Default Check Engine

I posted earlier (last year) about a similar experience with my '06 S Type that had less than 30,000 miles. My issue was related to the fuel pressure regulator. The dealer replace both the regulator and the catalytic converter. Over a year later the car is running perfectly.

Cool '07 XK Check Engine Light

Well, my turn to enter the diagnostic world of Exhaust Gas Recirculation. Seemed odd to me that I just had the Jag serviced yesterday and the Check Engine Light came on today. I'd just fueled before taking it in, so checked and the cap seemed tight. Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure the system needs to be reset, so will need to have the dealer do this for me, not having the tools myself. I did note that the dip stick was not seated at all, sticking out of the tube. I seated it, but thought I'd pass this to the forum and see what y'all think. Could this cause the problem?

If the MIL is illuminated, what are the code(s) stored? Post them here and perform a search for the solutions.

Follow up on yesterday's post for the CEL. An unseated dipstick will definitely cause the problem. I had the dealer reset the light and all is well . . . something to keep in mind next time I get the oil changed.

I guess those of us without a dip stick won't have to worry about this. Hahaha
