Chrome Wheels
I bought new wheels and had PVD chrome applied. It comes with a 5 yr warranty and seems to be holding up well.
Traditional chrome plating makes the wheels heavier and can start to 'peel' off in certain areas.
You can google traditional VS PVD to see if it makes sense for you.

My factory wheels need refinishing, I've considered PVP Chrome but I'd have to bling up the rest of the car to match.
I think Chrome wheels fit in best with an urban environment of brick and concrete.
Out in the country, not so much.

Here we go again! There are lots of old threads about chrome wheels.
Curb rash is inevitable. Painted wheels can be touched up satisfactorily, but a chrome (electroplated or PVD) wheel has to be completely redone. Sure, you can use chrome touch up paint, but you won't like the results.
For everything you need to know about chrome wheels - the good, the bad, and the ugly - see this 2014 thread:

Depends on the color of the car. They worked on my two black XKs not on my Rhodium Silver XKR. But, it is all a matter of individual taste.

As for your second sentence, I never have to do that because I am constantly reminded by my wife!
As for your first sentence, it's (1) wishful thinking, and (2) easier said than done. Ask me how I know.
I've always liked the look of polished AL, but its always a pain to get it mirror finish and keeping it that way.
Is it a pain to keep that finish maintained?
