Totally agree with the guy above (sorry, don't know your name).
It depends if you intend to keep the car or move on to the next one in a couple of years.
The boring colours like Black/Grey/Silver etc. are supposedly easier to sell on.
If it's a keeper than get the one YOU like!

Maybe it's me but when I saw a 2008 XK convertible in Botanical Green with the tan top and interior I went gaga and traded my Corvette Z06 in on it. Am picking it up in about 7 hours from the dealer near Chicago.
The rest of the Jaguar color pallet didn't wake any emotions in me, but this car SCREAM's Jaguar and reminds me of British Racing Green and spoke to my soul. This life time Corvette enthusiast and owner is buying a Jag.
How's that for what a color can do?

I beat you by 18 days. I picked up a 2008 CPO black/caramel XK Conv on March 19th, moving up from a 2003 Infiniti 6MT sports coupe. I love my colors also. That's what makes the world go round. I've been dreaming about a Jag conv since 1997, and now that the kids have their own cars, I have mine. However, I can still sympathize with one's concern about spending a lot on these cars and then having difficulty selling it down the road because of an unpopular color. But I guess having black, I will be OK and I love the color anyway. Best of Luck with yours.

Colors that people want vs. what they like
The Emerald Fire (Pearl British Racing Green) color '08 XK was on the Jag dealer's show room floor for nearly 7 months before I purchased it. This dealer basically starts with an above book asking price and drops the price $1000 each month, if the car still there.
So, I asked the salesman why this particular car had not sold for so long? He threw his hands up in the air and said it was probably the "color". People love colors but, do not buy them. They buy shades of grays, black, white, silver etc.
Funny thing is that I took the car to a different Jag dealer for some minor warranty service and the people there were falling all over themselves coming up to me and telling me what an absolutely gorgeous color this one was. Same with the average street people.
Go figure... at least, I am glad that i got it, I just love the color.

He's right though, compared to depreciation, color's effect on resale value is a pittance. You might lose/gain up to $2k on your color choice but when the car depreciates 10,000 in a year... argh.

colors resale
for me its all about condition. Notice when you see a car, any color and the body is perfect and it has a nice shine the car looks good. All the jags in my opinion have a very nice paint color. Mine is Porcelin white and the condition is pristine, so it looks awsome. As the car ages the color will be less and less important.
