My '95 Mustang is the same, once up, pull down on the latches to close then rotate to the LOCK position.
Actually, my 2000 XK8 was the first car I've owned that latched itself.

My 1993 MBZ 600SL also unlatched and latched itself - both the soft top and the hardtop - with the push of a button. It was the first car I owned that had a power adjustable inside rear view mirror with memory (linked to the key fobs for 2 drivers with memory for the side mirrors, inside mirror, driver's seat and headrest, steering wheel, and radio presets). Overkill.

Default windows and top stuck then saved

I ended up in electronic jail today. While trying to test for continuity in my driver door harness to fix a non-working puddle light in driver door only (still doesn't work...different post soon) I ended up with the window half down after disconnecting the harness from the door module. About the time that happens my son wants to go for a ride...so I am game and its nice out. Of course, the next thing that happens is he pushes the top-down button and the top is stuck about 1 1/2 inches from the latch. I didnt have to disconnect battery: just followed everything below starting with "close both doors..." and got it all back in order in less than 5 minutes! Thanks to White XKR..again. Jac

-Close both doors and reset both windows with the engine running. Do the window reset 3 times for good measure.

-Make sure the trunk divider is properly deployed and the trunk is shut.

-Attempt to raise the top again. Hold the button for 60 seconds additional if the top stalls. It should eventually complete the cycle.

-Close both doors and reset the windows again with the engine running and the top up.

If that does not work, then have the system checked out.

Hold a switch up (if window is down) until three seconds beyond where its stopped, then hold up again for a couple seconds. Hold down on a switch until it stops and an additional three seconds, Hold DOWN again for a couple seconds.
Or, reverse that if the window is already up.
