Default Convertible Window falls out on 2007 XK8

I am Interested to know if anyone else has had problems with the rear window on a convertible XK8 2007. I was driving mine and the back window just fell out, all the glue just peeled away and the window dropped into the car. We have had the car since new so I know there has not been any funny business with it previously. I contacted the Jaguar main dealer and they quote over $7,000 for a new hood (I do live in Dubai, UAE). However they said they could stitch a mounting bracket into the hood for $1,500 which would be just as good. I contacted Jaguar directly and they said it was out of warranty so they could not help.

Has anyone else had an issue with this? I do feel a window falling out is a major defect.

See this thread: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...ble-top-97478/

It is a known issue, and there even is a factory bulletin on it, though yours is the most extreme case I have heard of.

As a question of interest has this been an earlier problem with the XK8 models or just limited to the 2007 XK and newer models.
