I would like to install cutouts on my XK Coupe 2011. Suggestions from members Pro & Con.

Seriously? It would sound like a dump truck. Probably run that poorly as well.
Moses, a cutout is an electrically operated valve on the exhaust, usually right after the cats, that opens straight to air when the switch is flipped. They sound like open headers. Suitable for beat up old chevies and not much else.

An exhaust cutout is a "Y" pipe that is installed after the exhaust manifold/headers and before the catalytic converter/resonator/muffler. It has a butterfly valve before the "fork in the road" that allows the driver to select the direction of the exhaust flow to either the OEM side (quiet) or the open exhaust side (LOUD). The butterfly valve can be operated either mechanically or electrically. In the open position, it provides for more power since there are no restrictions to the exhaust flow. It's illegal for street use because it violates Federal clean air laws and local noise ordinances.

P.S.

You need to install the cutout down stream of the O2 sensor or you will trigger the MIS. It would be interesting to hear it as my XKR with the valves open and under hard acceleration sound loud enough for me.

FWIW, I had a totally free flowing mufflers on my XK and it sounded like crap and drove even worse. Would've given the $500 to a homeless person had I known what the outcome would be.

Best bet is an engineered exhaust from Quicksilver, Spires, Supersprint, etc...

I had a cutout on a 05 Lexus GX. That Mustang in the example above has some sort of other issues... My Lexus never sounded like that.

Install it between the Catalytic converter and the muffler and you are legal but make sure it is closed when if you have to get an inspection.

I loved my Cutout... Make sure to be on a real computer with real speakers when you listen to the video below.
