yep and they are getting worse...the dash rattle is definitely below the top covering of the dashboard around the airbox area.

Now I have a new noise that I think might be caused by bad engine/trans mount that affects the angle of the drive shaft or maybe the drive shaft couplers...need to investigate further...when I hit a bump occasionally I will get a rattle below the consul area but out side of the car that sounds like slow machine gun fire for a half second or so...clank,clank,clank,clank,clank,clank,clank,cla nk,clank, clank. I think something is hitting the heat shield that is placed above the exhaust, below the DS. Or possible hitting an aluminum tube that is above the DS.

I'm not looking forward to pulling the dash, thinking it might be the airbox.
I've read and read, it is not the hood, not the heat shield, not the aspirator fan, really seems to come from the center left of the dash. Pressing on the dash top does nothing to change it, i cannot get the rattle by tapping or slapping different areas, don't think it is the vent area.
Would someone like to speculate?
thanks folks

i had a rattle sounded like it was coming from the dash but it was strut tower was bad and the sound traveled. Replaced both strut mounts and no more rattling

I have new mounts installed. The dash sound is most definitely plastic sounding.

I found these images in the how to remove dashboard thread and am afraid that this rattle repair will be a dash removal project! The arrows pretty much show where i believe the sound is emanating from.

You 'MAY' be able to reach that area with the TSD removed??? I've never tried, but there is always a possibility, right?

Maybe, too cold to really think about, but I might dream @ it later on.
