When in Manual Mode, the car WILL downshift to second to avoid transmission damage. We're all talking about when in Drive and Full Automatic. No Paddles at all.

When in non-sport mode, the display only shows D, When in sport mode, automatic, it show all the gears. It normally goes to 2, not 1 on the display.

If it is showing gears in sport mode, you would of hit the paddles to engage manual mode.

Manual mode still will shift at red line, and at a minimum. If you saw DS that is sport mode, the numbers are manual mode.

Manual mode can be activated from both DS and Sport, but DS will hold the manual mode once activated, drive will time out and revert to drive.

You are correct. I stand corrected.

In sport manual mode, it will take itself down to 2, but not 1.

Sorry for my confusion.

Just had my jag 2003 xkr with same problem slight lag at take off. thought it might be a fuel pump or fuel filter. They found the mass air sensor was reading incorrectly thus the problem. Haven't put in a new mass air sensor yet. will advise if that fixes the problem
