Default DIY oil change on 2011 XKR

Anyone have experience in changing the oil yourself on a 2011 XKR? My local dealer wants $200 for an oil change. I am somewhat handy, have changed oil on other vehicles, but not on a car of this type.
Any advice is appreciated.

You'll need a vacuum pump, as the oil is removed through the oil filler cap tube. If you don't have a pump handy, you'll have to pay to get it done. $200 is quite ridiculous though. I pay $86 for full synthetic and a Wix filter at a local European Vehicle Specialist place. Of course, they don't do everything a Jaguar dealer would do, but most of it. I do the rest. My closest Jag dealer is well over an hour away.

Many people have used the conventional drain plug in the oil pan to change the oil. Since the Oil filter is located on top of the engine I find it easier to use a 12V electric pump that I got on Amazon for about $27. It pulls the hot oil out faster than I could lift the car. I did have to get a short clear plastic tubing from Hope Depot to fit the car's suction tube.

Albert. Where is the oil filter located on the 2012 XJL portfolio?

I use one of these, you can order one on line from Snap On for a little over $120.00, or go to Harbor Freight and see if they have something equivalent, no doubt that'll be cheaper but no saying how long it'll last.

I ordered a 12 Volt oil-specific pump from Amazon for I think $29. It works great, but the leads on it are worthless with the battery in the boot. I use a spare battery I have lying around to run it. Just have to make sure the oil is somewhere near operating temperature and not a cold sludge or it will work the motor too hard.

Yes Leeper, that's the one, better price than I paid too!
I use it on my Audi's, all the Jags, even used it on the Cessna once!
Makes changing oil so much quicker and less messy.
Great tool.
