Default Do 5.0L engines have/need oil catch cans?

Do our engines have factory oil catch cans in the EGR/intake system?
Has anyone installed a oil separator / catch can on their XK/XKR?

How hard are you pushing the engine, constantly under boost? Maybe if so but for 99.9% of us not really. Even my 130k 4.2 doesn't seem to have much blow by which is where you'll get a good bit of oil pumping out of the sump.

My car is n/a however my main consideration to potentially install one
is to avoid oil vapor from being fed back onto the intake valves.
driving habits are occasionally spirited..

They have an oil/air separator already, oil residue is fed back into the top of the engine.

In a nutshell, if we can eliminate any crankcase venting to the intake tract, and instead feed that to a Provent(or similar) that would be a great improvement. Oil is returned to sump and air is vented via Filter Assembly, or for heavy Track use and optional catch can, if needed.

That is the easy part I guess, making it all fit unobtrusively is where the magic comes in..LOL

Happy Tuesday,

Dave

The magic is finding the proper connectors workout having to salvage the stock ones (and destroying the stock hoses).

There is actually ample room in the engine bay, especially if you have a custom intake and/or sound symposer deleted.

Recently had my throttle body off my '13XK (10K miles); and stuck my fist into the intake manifold to see if it was wet with oil condensate. It was dry.

Agree, not making any permanent mods to the XKR is top priority IMHO.

Nice to hear there is room, I know you are intimately aware of everything in that area.

Thanks,

Dave
