Do we really need to install a transmission cooler for our XKR's?

Stick with ZF on that one. The fluid is often counterfeited so this not something to save a few bucks on. The whole trans service with parts and labor will cost around $500.

Agreed, stick with the standard replacements. They are high quality. Though many aftermarket providers self profess to be an upgrade…. I have yet see the empirical data.
Though there are metal pans from ZF available, there’s no need. I have changed mine 3 or 4 times to date. It has never cracked. I drive the car at -30 to +35 C. She runs great.Never reuse it. The filter is integrated into the pan.
Same goes for the power steering reservoir.
Relax and enjoy your car. Change fluids and filters often. (and batteries, brakes, bushings, supercharger oil…). And she won’t let you down.
