don't forget Costco
Hi Guys,
This is an FYI......
One of the items that surfaced in my state inspection, was I would be needing front tires in a foreseeable future. This being the case, I started researching the usual vendors. Then, I remembered I have one nearby....Costco. They have a number of mfg, from which, to choose. I chose Bridgestone S 04s in the larger staggered sizes my XKR needed. The toal was a 'tick" over $1000. Another vendor wanted $1400, or so.
A valuable added benefit, their tire warranty, also, covers bruising, typically occurring from potholes. Most mfg warranties classify this as user abuse, thus not covered.

Hi Vince,
I've experienced it a couple of times, the first when my wife hit a pothole the first winter we purchased the XJR. The car came with Pirellis. The mfg. would not cover, so with only 15K miles had to purchase a brand new tire. The second time was while on our second set of tires, once again a pothole was to blame. This time, having purchased the tires from Costco, we paid only a disposal fee of couple dollars and received a new tire. Ever since, I've been a fan. At some point during one of those pothole occurrences, she cracked a rim. For the longest time I kept adding air. During one of the routine maintenances, I had the dealer check it out, it was a hairline crack and wanted $900 to replace the rim. I had it professionally repaired for $245, or so. That was 7-8 years ago.
This is why I'm a fan.....

What size Bridgestones did you end up getting?

Thanks Rich,
Though, I might opt for road force balancing. A little more but well worth it. It'll depend on the tolerances of both wheels and tires.

My only concern with Price Clubs as well as some other chains (Pep Boys,Sears, etc) is making sure there is no damage to the rims. If necessary, I would go out with the shop manager before installation to verify the condition of your rims so that there are no issues later on as well as alerting him to your concerns.
