Default Driver & Passenger back rest not moving forward

Hello All,

Have a 2010 XKR where the back rest switch on both driver & passenger seats does not move forward. both switches work taking the back rest on both seats back. All other switches for both seats work fine.

Any pointers/help greatly appreciated

many thanks

Had the same after a battery-low situation. You need to have the dealer reset the seats, I don't think there's any other way.

Thanks for the reply. Hoping to avoid a trip to the Jag dealer but if there is nothing else to try or check

I had a similar issue and agree with No Quarter that the seats need to be re-calibrated. I used SDD and was successful. SDD is very cumbersome to use but also very capable at troubleshooting and correcting issues.
I believe some of the Autel products with their JLR package supports seat calibration plus other common procedures and is much more straightforward to use as well as being reasonably inexpensive. Research the Autel 200 on this forum and check their web site for more info.

I was able to use the iCarsoft 3.0 to sort-of fix this issue on my 2010. It's not a fix per se, but it works--I used the iCarsoft to bring the seat all the way forward, then moved it into the position I wanted and set the memory.

Foxwell NT530 with LRJ software will recalibrate seats; under $160 on their website

Appreciate all the advice, many thanks. Will look at the scanners mentioned as price wise they seem better than a visit to the local jag dealer (one too many bad experiences ☹️)

I can't remember for certain, but I SORT OF remember Foxwell being.... not, good? I may be mistaken, but I'm old so that's okay.

The Foxwell is okay; does what I need it to do, and I guess that is what's important to me. I don't doubt some things will require SDD, but until then the Foxwell is my go-to

Was just about to ask for input. If the Foxwell can recalibrate the seat modules, then it's something the iCarsoft can't do, and it looks to be $40 cheaper or so.

Thinking about picking one up--curious about opinions from other forum members.

I haven't played with the iCarsoft that much, since I purchased it solely to fix the seat issue; apologies I don't have more to offer by way of a review.

I actually bought it to recalibrate the passenger seat, which it did. I also bought a second software package for my G80 Genesis and it helped me diagnose a couple of issues with that vehicle

I remember a similar scenario happening to my passenger seat when it was at an upholstery shop getting the headliner replaced. The shop owner ended up bringing the car to a friends shop that worked on exotic cars and had it reprogrammed. I wonder if these things happen when the battery runs down, which probably was the case with the headliner installation.

Will definitely check out the Foxwell. Is it worth buying the latest version or will the NT530 with JLR software do the trick ? Just thinking of it as a long term investment ?

Supposedly the software and capabilities are the same, the new model is WiFi capable for updates, plus the scanner itself is a more "contemporary" format; I thought about upgrading but, since they have the same functionality, didn't bother.

Ordered the NT530, should arrive in a couple of days

Just out of curiosity i contacted local jag dealer, explained issue & here is their reply:

"Good afternoon,

Thank you for your query.

I have attempted to contact you in regards to this, to discuss next steps. We would intially need to perform a diagnostic to confirm what the issue with the vehicle is.

The cost of this is £216, from this we will then be able to confirm a price to perform the repair."

the definition of Highway Robbery ☹️

Would appreciate an update to see if this fixes the problem. I have the icarsoft and of course they told me it could recalibrate seats , it couldn't.

thx

I went to the dealer multiple times to have my seats recalibrated. Then once I took it to British Performance in Mission Viejo CA, they said there was an update that prevents the seat problem from happening. Once they ran the update it has never happened again.

NT530 recvd. At work at the moment but will try the seat recalibration when I get home. I had a quick look at the NT530 manual online & once the car is identified would i need to go to control modules & locate the seat option & then select special functions in order to recalibrate ?

thanks

Sounds right, but I haven't had to do mine again. One thing - if you follow the directions, they will tell you to do the procedure with the engine off; I have found that is not always accurate; if I'm remembering, I tried it once their way with no success, and redid it with the engine running and the calibration completed successfully. You'll know it working because the seat moves through the full range of motion
