Question ECM/ECU programming (flashing)

I have a 2012 Jaguar XKR. I have 1 issue with the car...the (standard) cruise control doesn't work. (OBD error: U0104)

From what I have read, the controller for the "standard" cruise control is built into the ECM/ECU. I was thinking of getting a rebuilt ECM/ECU. However, I have read that they often need to be flashed/programmed.

Does anyone know:

- what tool would be needed to flash a Jaguar ECM/ECU?

- is it possible to get the stock 2012 XKR ECM/ECU file from the factory or importer (Jaguar USA)? It is possible that some portion of mine is corrupted.

- do the key remotes need to be resynced after flashing the ECM/ECU?

I would not assume it's the PCM (aka ECM). Probably the last thing to suspect.

Default Programming ECM to new modules and keyfobs

I had to replace all modules with new ones. Do I need to flash the keyfobs and modules to the ECM to get it to start? How do I do this?

In order to get information that would be of value to you, I think you should elaborate a bit on your issue.

What year and model do you have? Why did you have to replace all modules? Define all modules? Which ones specifically? And is this related to the original post about cruise control?

TxFirecracker - You're a newbie and obviously didn't read this MUST READ thread:

Your Public Profile is incomplete. You need to add details about your car and your location.

P.S. Answers to many "How do I do this?" questions can be found in the "Sticky" threads at the top of this Forum, including Workshop Manuals.

"ALL" modules would be quite a task. There are what, 28 modules in the car?
