For the first time in over twenty years I am not a Jaguar owner. Had a nice run with a 2000 S Type from 2000 - 2012 and with this magnificent 2008 XKR from December 2007 till just a few weeks ago. Both purchased new. Surprisingly the S Type was basically flawless, just getting old and the risk profile was making me nervous. The XKR will probably always be my favorite car despite the nagging Leaper issues with the screen, the horrible leaking duckbill and the rear window pulling away from the top. The original convertible top would need to replaced within six months, the original exhaust system was not to last much longer, the original rods and bushings all needed replacement and it would need brakes and tires within 5000 miles. Just did not believe it prudent sink that much money into a 14 year old Jag. Carvana was a most convenient and painless solution and I was satisfied with the $17k they offered.

Replaced it with a beautiful 2022 Audi S5 cabriolet which "only" took five months from order to delivery.

Good luck with your cats and a sincere thank you to all the members of this forum who have made many valuable contributions helping me resolve issues along the way and the emotional support all Jag owners require. I'll miss my XKR and this forum; if Jag still produced an XKR cabriolet model I would still be a Jag owner.

 

Good to read about your positive Jaguar ownership experience across many years. I hope the Audi proves as satisfactory.

Not surprised you've gone with a different marque. I've never been without a Jaguar for fifty years but cannot see anything in the line-up of current or forthcoming models that persuades me to continue.

I've never heard of an XK needing a new exhaust, but maybe that's because you live in Florida?
Good luck with the Audi, better luck than me anyway. I found them fairly deplorable, but nice to look at. A fancy broken VW was my experience.
It seems you got a good price from Carvana, it was probably the best time to sell yours with the crazy used car prices currently happening.

Unfortunately we're a bit hard pressed when looking to get something newer in a 2+2 design In my opinion it's Bentley gt/ Aston Martin vanquish or LC500 ..kind of stuck on ideas

 

I've not yet found an 'affordable' vehicle that would be worthy of an upgrade.
Before this crazy virus stuff, I had seriously planned on getting a 2016 or newer AM Vanquish. The prices for those have increased $20-50k in the past two years.
SO, now I'm still with my XKR, but I seriously don't mind one bit.

 

No, apparently Jaguar has decided to commit suicide. Going all electric. We may end all electric at some point, but I think that Jaguar has read their buyers incorrectly if they think that current Jaguar owners are first movers in new technology, and all want an electric car ASAP. Jaguar should develop electric cars and at the same time keep the gasoline XJ, a GT and a smaller-than-XJ sedan alive and perfecting them. My other preferred brand, Cadillac with the V series 600+ HP sedans, are doing the same. I don't know what I should buy in the future, I'm glad I'm late in life and not early...

 

I dunno, man. I'm also old and have been an Engine guy over a Motor guy for a long, long time. Then I drove an electric dragster several years ago. Holeeeeeeeeeee Shyteeeeeeeeeeeeeee. Then I recently drove a Mach E. Holee Shyte again, plus comfort, ride quality and some actual range. (Who really drives farther than fifty miles per trip?)
While not perfect, I do see a huge market for all electric very, very soon.
Will I get rid of my petrol stuff? Not until I die, but Wow the performance potential available now!
You HAVE heard of the 'New' Jaguar 2025 XK-E, right? Course you already know what the "E" means...

musacch, "only" five months, not bad. We ordered the replacement for my wife's 2014 S-Class in April and finally took delivery Friday of the new MB EQS. So, yes we went all electric. We only got the single engine model which has plenty of power and with the rear wheel steering, I can't wait to try it in the mountains.

Same here. I am not even luke warm to any current Jag beyond the SVR F Type. I like the sports car design Jaguar promotes on the Sky TV commericals, but I doubt that'll move beyond the clay model :-(

The largest JLR showroom in North America recently opened in Boston and I am yet to even visit it... I hope the electric era Jaguar can bring back the austerity that Jaguar has lost. "Pipe and slippers" ended up being not such a bad thing if looking at the contrast today.

"Motor" as in Motor Vehicle is used as a verb, 'move'. As in... A Vehicle to Motor Down the Road.

I'm a through and through coupe guy however the xjr 5 SC has definitely crossed my mind as a worthy replacement for xkr go for it !

I agree with you.I don't think i'll ever be another Jag owner either if they don't come out with another version of the XK and XKR that looks just as good.
