Find a local Jaguar specialist on the south coast that has Jaguar main dealer level equipment.

Why was the ECM swapped out to begin with?

What year is the car? In a thread from a few months ago, I found a training guide from Jaguar stating that a used ECM cannot be transferred to another vehicle. Once the VIN is written to the ECM, it cannot be changed. The security system will not accept this VIN mismatch and will not allow the engine to start. Supposedly even the dealer cannot override this. The only option for replacement is to install a new ECM, not a used one.

I can’t remember if this applies to early or late models, or all of them. I’ll look for this info if you can please let us know what year you have.

Found it. It appears this limitation only applies to ‘99-‘02 models. Details here:

I've fitted used PCM's to 99 & 01 S-Type's, and an 04 X350, cars start and drive fine now.

But, you need to program the replacement module to the car with IDS or SDD, because of the PATS immobiliser.

Well at least you have the Denso that can be reflashed.

Why has it been swapped? Almost every time they're said to be faulty they aren't...

Huh, well I'll be. Glad to hear it's possible. Guess I shouldn't believe everything I read, even official factory documentation. Maybe that training guide was pre-production and this feature was revised? Heck if I know...

the ids software has the raw program for your PCM to match your chassis/vin with in .
you really need to identify the communications fault . wether it be SCP or CAN network failure and fix this first .
being an 03 car it could be ether side of the facelift model . and this will determine if it has CAN BUS or not .
often a failed module in the circuit can point to the next module in the chain as the culprit . there are module pin out diagrams in JTIS within IDS/SDD
to test the wires . you can ether check the wires for continuity with all modules disconnected . or back probe the wires whilst powered (all modules connected)
with an oscilloscope to monitor module wave length activity for failure . and you can also test the voltages CANH AND CANL (high and low) at various modules and OBD2port to check for any issues with the transceivers, if CAN is applicable here ?

Hi, kindly expound. I have bought like three replacement modules off ebay, but each I have bought upon installation onto the car does not communicate, SDD sees it as an 'X', hence I cannot get to program it onto the car. Tried ractification procedure begining with the TCM which SDD sees as a '?', with failed to communicate, and (Four fault codes logged message) then gone onto the the PCM, failed to get them to be seen by SDD.

Upon turning on the ignition, the immo lights stays solid for close to 5 minutes, then starts to blink .At my wits end.
