Educate me on the DSC
OK just came back from a great 2 hour ride looking at the fall foilage. Great drive up the mountain roads and back in the valleys. lot of twisties and just a fun drive. Now back to my question. Just what does the DSC switch do other then open the exhaust system. Just need a little education here .

This detailed explanation might help. Take a few minutes to read it a few times for a good understanding.

OK I see I have my wires crossed and the pdf helped . I have only played with the Dynamic Mode switch and have not turned off the DSC switch. As far as winter mode goes I will most likely not bother to use it. So during one of my upcoming runs I'll try the DSC off and see what changes I get. Do I also assume that the E-differential does not react differently if any of the switches are set.

I don't know about the 2012 XKR but that pdf is not totally accurate for my 10 XK. Specifically where it says that when dynamic mode is selected, Track DSC is automatically selected... That doesn't happen. Track DSC is turned on or off independently of Dynamic mode.
Jagtoes, you want to turn the DSC completely off (hold button down for 10 seconds) only if you want to drift on a closed circuit or do donuts in the parking lot. Otherwise I'd always drive with either DSC or Track DSC.
I also have a working theory that Track DSC is actually safer when driving "spiritedly" due to the tendency of the DSC to induce understeer when cornering at high speeds. But it's only a theory. Any thoughts?
I use winter mode in wet weather quite a bit. It tames the beast when I'd otherwise spin out at stoplights on hills. That's just embarrassing.
