Default Electric parking brake

Getting ready to swap out the brake pads on my 2011 XKR and the manual says I need the "Special Jaguar" de-tensioner tool to release the emergency brake cable. Has anyone changed their pads without this critter?

I've changed my rear brakes by merely releasing the E-brake. I changed the pads with zero problems whatsoever. Reset the brake once finished and everything has been perfect since.

The only thing to remember is you need to use a piston compressor tool because it rotates as it is being compressed. I got a cheap one at Harbor Freight that worked fine.
