Default Electronic handbrake advice please

Hi

i put a deposit on a 2007 Jaguar XKR, when i test drove the car i noticed the handbrake was not functioning. I did notice a whirring noise where it was trying to apply, a warning message was on the dash.

The dealer said no problem he will sort the issue before delivery. The car was over 300 miles away. The dealer informed me that he would sort this before delivery. He took it to his JLR mechanic and after a few days he said it was the motor, probably stripped gearing. He told the dealer he could not do it for over a week and its a 10 hour job.

After finding other options we decided to gret the car delivered and i would book it into a Jag specialist in Bromsgrove. The dealer spoke to the specialist and agreed i would book the car in and the dealer will pay all the costs, the dealer has been up front all along.

The dealer will also be sending the EPB motor down with the car. The dealer is also giving me a free 6 month warranty for the delay. The car will be delivered this week with a new epb motor from JLR

Is a motor change a 10 hour job?

Only way I can see it being a 10hr job would be if the rear cradle assembly has to be dropped which is quite possible..I'm going to see if I can a explode diagram

Thanks, I did trawl the Internet and found one video showing the job, it showed 2 large rear axle bolts being undone with a jack supporting the rear axle, just to access the 2 epb motor bolts, didn't look like a large job.

Information on this job seems scarce

Yes, rear the subframe must be dropped and 10 hours might be realistic. Lots of various things to remove and prepare, I've done mine over 2 days.

Thanks for the replies, luckily the dealer I bought the car from is footing the bill.
Ill ask the jag specialists whos doing the job to let me know if anything else needs replacing as a preventative measure if he's stripping the back end.
