The sound it one of the loudest and not just because it's mine the nicest I've heard. On a calm day it can be heard a mile and a half away, there's a lovely crackle and popping on down shift and a real jaguar roar. There was a f-type on the run and as I love there noise mine could easily cover its noise to the owners amazement.

Default Elite RR exhaust noise

Agree powerhouse there is a big difference from simply 'loud' to a loud & pleasant sounding exhaust system .
I think the elite brand is the most underrated exhaust out there for the xk

This video is from their site, mine has a nice rummble when cruising, but when the revs go up it's unreal, just a pleasure, think this system is made to perfection. As mine has just the one center box it adds to noise. Although this vid gives an idea it is quite astonishing in reality

That sounds excellent

I'm considering the same rear box for my car, also a 4.2 08 XKR. I already have the Spires stage 1 mid section with no mid silencers at all so I guess mine would end up a touch louder than yours. Questions are - is it possible to be quiet at all? Like using just gentle acceleration and on cruising? I'd still like to be able to drive about town without attracting too much attention.

Also, any cabin drone when cruising on motorway etc.?

There is no drone at high or low speed, just lovely rumble when normal driveing, and deep roar under acceleration, on quick throttle up to 3 half thousand revs there's a lovely roar that even sounds like a jaguar and and then the crackle and popping. It will just rumble when idle or on steady throttle.Don't know much about spires system but have done a few car outing with different high powered cars and none can match it. Always people want to talk about it, when a convert 458 ferrari driver wants to follow you and listen to the noise you know it's right. Personally I can't see any other system coming close to the noise , its perfect. I had the car mapped and pulleys done and the exhaust system if you want to say, tuned in to suit which makes a difference, and forgot to mention I love to do the putting off car alarms trick when city or town driving.

Thanks for that. So is it way louder than stock when at idle or cruising, driving gently around town etc.? I'm going to have a problem if it's no longer possible to move about without making loads of noise.

Driving around town just using a bit off power isn't to bad, not way louder but just nice, its when you apply the power in a sudden bust or quickly then the cat roars, i never use the radio always the window down and paddle shifting,. If your worried about anyone complaining about the noise you'll be to far gone to care

OK thanks, should be able to cope with that. I've still got the stock centre section in the garage so I guess I could put that back on if it's too loud when combined with the Spires centre section.

Yea that would be the thing to do, look forward to here the reports back and the noise when you get sorted. Going to get a gopro hero 4 in the next few weeks so hope to get some rear exhaust noise videoed.

Hey, any chance you could post a couple of pics of your exhaust tips, mainly one from the side and one from above? Slightly concerned that some of the photos on their website look like they're slash cut to angle out towards the sides of the car, not just slightly inwards from the top as per standard.

Here you go slight angle, but look well.

Hope it goes well for you, and you get the noise your after, don't forget to get your car tuned when you fit it, has to be done for full effect. When you fit a different system the back flow changes so it has to suit you engine, any good tuning shop should do it and maybe a remap which would do the proper job, i got this done and pulley upgrade. The difference is unreal, it is neck wrenching the power difference. Supercharger has to come off to fit the 2.5lb pulley properly, power difference means i can stick to any 5.0 xkr's bumper and have done it.
