engine
i need a little help i seen old jaguars are basically ford like my car it’s a 2007 x k and i was thinking about doing an engine swap and I know I can switch it to a 5.0 V8 and I wanted to know if I could put a Mustang GT 2014 GEN 1 coyote 5.0 v8 also from ford
Absolutely NOT. The Ford engines are NOT Jaguar engines, not even close.
Let me modify my statement...... It will take multiple tens of thousands of dollars to get a different engine installed, and another tens of thousands of dollars to make it WORK with the electronics. Actually, SOMEWHAT work with the electronics. SO, about $50,000 added and it'll be worse than what you started with.
If you want more oomph from your current XK, sell it and buy a 5.0 XKR. It's the only sensible thing to do.

Wasn’t there a Road and Track article decades ago, where some german customizing shop put a jetta body on a 928S chassis…
Cut off the body and paste it on the ‘tang, lol…
I’m so funny.
Cheers!

You can do most anything to a car if you spend enough money. But why would you do that? Jag owners won't like it because of the engine swap, and hot rod/muscle car owners won't like it because it's a Jag.
Here's a true story: I had a friend who was a hot rod guy. Owned a very successful machine tool business, so money was no problem for him. He bought a '69 E-Type 2+2, automatic. It was a nice car, decent driver quality, surprisingly rust free, ran fine, looked decent, just needed a "refreshing" not a restoration. He decided to make it into a hot rod. I tried to convince him not to do that and just spend a few thousand to freshen it up. But he didn't listen. He proceeded to have a (hot rod) shop install a 302 V8, different trans and rearend, other mechanicals and mechanical systems, customize the body, repaint it, etc. He "invested" well over $100k getting all the systems to work right and run right. Jag folks hated it, and hot rod folks hated it because it was a Jag. After he passed, his widow sold it. Took her a very long time starting at an asking price of around $70k, and over time kept dropping the price until it eventually sold for $17k. The ultimate $ loss was over $100k. The moral of the stroy?: Don't do something stupid with your Jag. No one wants a converted Jag, especially an XK.

@David993S …. you had a XK150 DHC…. and got rid of it?!?
It was Olde English White with red leather. Was also a JCNA concours winning car. It was a decent car when i bought it, and then spent nearly $35k bringing it up to a concours winning standard.

Yes that old urban legend just won't die. Even after all these years.
Not ONE part from the Coyote engine is the same as the Jaguar 5.0L engine.
The Internet experts strike again!

After spinning a big end bearing and scorning the crankshaft, I went down this path and looked at every single option in detail and minimal software work required, so there would be no need for aftermarket ecu control units or gearbox replacements
I ended up going for the aj41 4.4 from a range rover sport with uplifted rpm limit 7k its not a rocket ship by any means (13.5 @103mph), although I would say its on par or close to the stock N/A 5L power levels now.
If I were to do it again, I would have the cams reground and might get an extra 20--25hp
All in all Im happy for the result and the vehicle was only off the road for a few days whilst i did the work
