Evaporation Leak
The engine light came on the other day and drove by my mechanic to see what the hell is up with that. He put the scanner in and saw an Evaporation Leak error code. He reset it and told me to make sure the gas cap was “clicked” enough. I am diligent to make sure there is at least 3 clicks and this has never happened to me before on any car.
A day later, the light comes back on. I went by the shop and will have it looked at tomorrow. He said the system needs to be “smoged” and that is about a 2 hour process. My car has is an ’07 with just under 18K miles. I hope whatever needs to be replaced is not too costly. Car drives fine.
As aside; do you find the XK takes a little driving to warm up the body? My car starts of a little creaky and then settles in after 10-15 minutes of driving. I don’t recall my XJ350 do like that.
Also, not many ‘07+ XK’s have made their way to indy yet and one mechanic asked “is this a short wheelbase model”, to say that he visually though the older XK had a longer wheelbase. I notice the traction control comes on much more frequently in the XK and XJ and I have to be more gingerly with the throttle when driving on a wet curve. Is it the weight difference that most likely the difference between the two models?
