Default F-Type coupe pricing rumour

Motor Trend reckon their spies are saying that the F-Type coupe will be MORE expensive than the convertible. What does the hive think of this idea.

I'm guessing they are fashioning the metal roof out of platinum?

Maybe they read our thread about coupe vs convertible styling and feel they can charge extra for a pair of muscular looking rear haunches

Such pricing would go against most expectations. Personally, I would not be happy with a higher priced coupe. Next, they will also tell us that the coupe will even be heavier than the vert... what this world is coming to....

That would be incredibly ironic.

If true! It's simple economics; they will sell less Coupes so they have to charge more
over the production run.
IMHO I think the Coupe will be a better looker.............but I'm bias, I only buy Coupes;
except I did have a SS100 a long time ago!

Looking forward to seeing the Coupe!

Cheers, Adrian

They should offer a striped down coupe version to start mixing the f-type into the club racing world. Making a name for the themselves with enthusiasts on the track will be their smartest long term validation and advertising.

A less expensive to the point version is what's needed.

I think that would be a great idea. Not sure if you can pull off a limited production car for actually less money but, if they made a run with lots of the fat removed and specially lowered, adjustable suspension it could be a killer on the club racing circuits. I could really get into that idea! Get rid of the heavy vert-specific chassis reinforcements and equipment, the 60lbs electrically adjustable seats, use ultra light wheels, plenty of carbon fiber for the interior-exterior and the first 300 lbs is gone from the car in a snap... dream on folks...

They don't have to get too fancy with carbon fiber even. The point is to make this car attractive to club racers and "affordable" replacement parts is a good part of that. Put in simple HVAC system, no NAV thingy, simple yet nice interior treatments, loose some sound insulation...

But if Jag got rid of the nav what would new owners have to complain about?

They can complain that the car is too fast and reliable.
