Finally 2012 XK Coupe coming
Patiently waited for the "ideal" XK Coupe to replace our 10yr old 2004 XJ VDP which has been PERFECT (never seen dealer).
Getting ready to close the deal on a 2012 XK Coupe in Claret Red with Caramel interior that only has 7K miles. Floor mats look new! Pictures will come soon.

Congratukations. Love the red and caramel color combo. Enjoy. I have the indigo blue and caramel combo but saw this one on ebay and had never seen the XK in this deep burgundy called caviar. This combo is to die for.

Thanks everyone. The numbers back it up that the 5.0 NA motor is just as quick as the 4.2SC and the sounds it makes are intoxicating!!! Couldn't see giving the wife an XKR as all that power would be useless on the street. Also this opens the door for me to roll over my 2010 Evora for an "S" in a few years for track duty. The only place I'd ever be able to use the XKR's power would be at the track so I thought it would be a waste. Besides, as mentioned we've had 2 XJ's. First was a 2008 XJ8 in Carnival red / cashmere and the current ride is a 2004 XJ VDP in Radiance Red with Ivory. She likes her red! This color combo has always been her #1 choice and it happened to be 30 minutes away so I'd have been foolish if I let it get away. 7000 miles and not a mark on the interior anywhere! Might as well call it new.

The 5.0L NA XK engine is rated at 385 HP, while the 4.2L S/C engine is rated at 420 HP.
Agree that the 5.0L engine will meet all the needs of normal USA road capabilities.
Nice looking car and I do like the color.......interior looks awesome.....

You are correct about the HP numbers but what gets overlooked (Lotus guy here) is the the XK is 200lbs lighter than the XKR so the old 100lbs=10Hp makes it like comparing 385 to 400+(effectively). All great cars but even I was shocked how close a new NA 5.0 and older 4.2 SC really are. The new 5.0SC is another animal entirely.
Yes it was a2 yr prepurchased lease that was turned in after 18 months for health reasons! Odometer sits at ~7800 miles as it was driven a few times during winter which was great IMHO. Just trying to come to grips with selling that beautiful 2004!

We both can't wait. Best part is I've known people loved our 2004 XJ VDP so I made sure to offer it. Mt sister is gonna keep it knowing its perfect even if it is just for local driving so I don't feel bad anymore. We both know the XJ--> XK move is the final ultimate upgrade in the Jaguar line so I'll get over it quickly!
Interestingly, I LOVE the new F type but, honestly it isn't better looking and I am a bit disconcerted by its WEIGHT. A base F Type Coupe is only 200lbs lighter than a base XK coupe but its a foot shorter.
paperwork is complete and hopefully a 3/14 delivery will occur (not a bad Bday present!)

yeah, awesome colour. There is a reason that they used it for the hero shots in the advertising. http://blog.caranddriver.com/wp-cont...-XKR-coupe.jpg
I would have preferred that colour to any other, but I took silver to match the way my hair is going. And because it was cheap.

Needless to say I have been sitting in her all weekend as I become fully acquainted wih all the adjustments etc. The car is non a GT poseur. It is a serious sports car!!
Only surprise thus far is just much thirstier the 5.0 is than the 4.2 in my 2004 XJ. I knew it would be a bit less friendly but figured a s a somewhat lighter car that would be offset. Anyway no biggie and I haven't done a true highway trip to compare yet. Car is just beautiful to look at and I took my last ride in the old XJ yesterday and won't be looking back!
One item searches haven't helped with is using a USB stick. What format have folks used (I am fully Ipod competent but haven't used a USB memory device before) How have folks most conveniently but their Itunes library in stick to leave in the car full time?
