Default Finally sprung for a safety net

Well after thinking about it I finally went out and got a Scanguage just so I can see my temp and voltage. Got the model E and used the velcro to place it on the steering wheel. It turns on and off with the ignition and stays on the water temp and voltage. Took a quick picture of it today as I was coming back from a golf outing. It's better then using my Torque pro because it is always hooked up.

Nice, that will make you feel much more comfortable I am sure. Why oh why didn't they give the option in the cluster, instead it forces you to Velcro a $100 add-on plastic doo-hickey on to a $90,000 car.

That is much more useful than on a cell phone, having to open the app everytime you drive would be annoying. Having the device right there for regular monitoring is perfect.

I have a Samsung S3 tablet I'm going to try and run torque on. Should be interesting once the adapter shows up. Still undecided on where to mount it or how permanently. Seems like it's just asking for a broken window.

I have the torque pro on my cell phone but it's a pain to have to boot up the app and get the gauge screen up before you take the car out. With this scangauge it turns on when you start the car and it shows WT and volts. No need to boot anything or search for the gauge set. Quick and easy. I'm not impressed with having this sticking up on the steering wheel but I'll live with it for now.

I looked around as well and ended up getting this gauge for under 40 bucks.

Shape is pretty small and fits in a bunch of spots. Also does codes Etc. So far no issues...

Works real nice and no need to carry/leave an iPad/droid or have to deal with Bluetooth Etc. I did a quick write up

I couldn't agree more. Not appropriate for a car of this class. The most frustrating part of my ownership of my beautiful XK. But it does take away from the enjoyment. So many out there are not even aware of cooling system/water pump issues. They may very well be the lucky ones.

I have the Autool X50 Plus as well. Works great and doubles as a code reader. You can find them on ebay for <$35 delivered.

One question I have, what temperature range are you seeing? Under normal driving conditions my XK runs between about 190 and 195. When it is hot outside (115 F) mine will get up to 222 F sitting at a stop light. My Xterra runs about 190 to 195 under normal conditions as well but only gets to about 204 when it is hot outside at a stop light.

Dave, I have Torque Pro running through GVIF and displays on my touchscreen. It typically runs a range from 190 - 197. I think I hit 200 once at a stop light on a hot day and it dropped to 194 when I accelerated. Usually it hangs around 194.

My 2012 XKR runs between 193*F to 205*F. Usually stays on 197*F on the open road.

Yep, when the basics of a few simple gauges pushes the vehicle over it's price point - behold our aftermarket option.

A rolling command center, sweet.

All that stuff and not one device shows his engine temp! Probably has it as a stock item in his dash display in that regular ole' Ford product.

Just as long as you don't text while driving.

I used to say that my 2007 always ran in the 195-199 range (via HKS Camp2 through GVIF to the touch screen), but a couple of weeks ago it was in the mid 90's here, and I saw it get up to 212 in stop-n-go traffic.
