Default First trip to the drag strip

After 60 years I finally made it to my local drag strip, Rock Falls Raceway. My son purchased a 2020 M3 a couple months ago and was just itching to put my 2007 XKR in its place. And I must admit after driving his I did not think I stood a snowball chance in hell. His launch with the all wheel (x) drive is just phenomenal. My car had been down on power after I modified my cats into mini cherry bombs 3 years ago so I cheated and spooled up a custom tune from Alpha Jag ahead of time to take care of the no back pressure and to replace a few ponies that may have escaped the barn over the last 14 years. Which after doing so I thought I may have made things a little worse as the tire spin on take off was all of a sudden a lot harder to control. Knowing how my sons car launched I was worried I wasn't even going to be competitive.
Then I find out my son cheated and loaded up a piggy back tune from Race Chip.
So off us cheaters went to race. Test day so you can run as many times as you desire. A few observations after a couple runs.
The track is allot stickier than a blacktop road with corn fields on each side. First six times we ran I beat him. My launch was phenomenal. In 6 years of ownership I had never felt my car lauch like that. Never spun a tire. Never beat him by more than a couple of tenths but I would lead the whole way. We were in the mid 12's all day. My best time was 12.35 with a reaction time of .38 something. I'm old. I did have a couple .09s.
The next 6 times down the track was not so good, not sure what changed but we watched for a couple hours or so then we went to run again and I could get no hookup what so ever. Roasted the tires on the starting line every time. First couple of times I was loading up the rear end too much. So I tried no rpms at the line but had the same results. I presume the track had cooled off a little as we were getting into late afternoon??
Overall I could not be happier. Alex's tune is for real. My cars transformation from no back pressure/stock tune to now just makes me giggle. My barn is plum full of horses now. The exhaust note did change a little, it sounds allot more pissed off at full song.
I like it!
Thanks Alex Jag!

Congratulations! That's a very good time especially for a car with stock pulley and LSD!
