Default Fords & XKRs in Cornwall

The 75 has lowered suspension, the same as the Dynamic/R-S setup. Here is the approach to the converted mill we've been staying in, somewhere in darkest Penwith in Cornwall:

Fords & XKRs in Cornwall-img_0277-small.jpg

It's a ford, made of dirty great slabs of granite with channels between them. The drop on either side is about a foot.

I managed to ford the ford in the XKR, though I collected a bit of gravel on the front splitter. However, when I went to go back over the ford, I couldn't, because the splitter got too close to the dirty great slabs of granite and things would have become expensive. Eventually, I managed to cross it backwards, because the back of the XKR has a shorter, higher overhang. That was a little tricky, because the ford is not a lot wider than the car, and there's that nasty drop waiting. Of course, the owner had no trouble getting her Mondeo over in either direction.

So, the moral of the story is: you can ford a ford forwards in a Ford, but you can only ford it backwards in an XKR, unless you can afford a new splitter.

If you cant aFORD a new splitter to cross a FORD then mybe you should sell the Jag & buy a new FORD

Fortunately, I was not forced to ford the ford forward, because I afforded myself of reverse gear, thus revising my reversion to the relevant side of the river.

None taken at all.

And I'm guessing, by the lack of other comment, that our English humour is not grabbing the rest of the world...

Much appreciated by a Brit in the US and a native of the SW, you are lucky in deed to enjoy a XKR on the roads of Devon and Cornwall. Although you might be called a grockle

Not in Cornwall - there I'd be an emmet.

(for confused non-Brits, those are both semi-derogatory terms for "tourist", or "Not from around here")

So....the best way to ford a ford is with a Ford unless you prefer to ford in reverse with a Jag?
Perhaps a Cornish man would have parked before the ford and walked?
