Default Former BMW 6 Convertible Owner

Hello all! This is my first post:

I just purchased an '07 XKR Convertible (indigo blue/caramel, very low miles; one owner) and I must say, it is a much nicer automobile than my BMW 6 convertible.

•This car and an amazing exhaust (stood outside & let a friend drive it by - sounds like the God of Thunder is gargling with glass!!)...

•Superior comfort on long drives; not as edgy as the 6, but still handles quite well...

•Amazing acceleration - spanks the 6 series (not the confusing M); love tghe paddle shifters and the "auto-shifting" Sport mode...

•Easy-to-use controls/touch screen (wifey loves it much better than the terrible iDrive in the 6 - uh oh - she HAS been driving the Jag more than she ever drove the Bimmer)...

•The service department is incredible; superior service...

•And finally, for those that care - the XKR turns heads EVERYWHERE I go - can't fill-er up without being asked "What is that"? "Is that an Aston Martin?" "Is that a Maserati?". Quite funny the comments and questions she evokes...

My dream car, exactly the color combo I would choose as well. The front end does share some similarities with the Aston Martin. Nice car man, stick around if you can. You may not be able to contribute on repair threads, but there's more here than tech talk. Enjoy the forums!

Enjoy the Jag, it's an awesome car. I used to drive a Porsche 911 Cabrio with manual 6 speed. The wife couldn't drive that one. She is liking the Jag with the automatic a bit too much during the warm top down convertible days of summer. I will have to reconsider a manual on my next sports car purchase.

Thanks Cadillac and jaybee; yep, wifey has been driving the Jag almost every day for the last 2 weeks; in one month of ownership, she has driven it more than the entire time I owned the 6. She says "It just feels right" (I say give it back, please)...

Strange, but ever since I sold the BMW, I see a lot of them around now; my detail guy says that my XKR is the only one that he has seen in this area, and he details a lot of high-end vehicles.

Nice not to see some highshooler driving by in a pimped out Jag...

Puma is a Felidae genus that contains the Cougar (also known as the Puma, among other names) and the Jaguarundi, and may also include several poorly known Old World fossil representatives (for example, Puma pardoides, or "Owen's Panther," a large cougar-like cat of Eurasia's Pleistocene).[

Puma (car), a Brazilian brand of sports cars
Puma (kit-car), an Italian brand of dune buggy and sports kit-car

FWIW, I was at the zoo the other day and overheard a Brit/Aussie/South African, couldn't tell which, say they were going to see the "Pumas," they were heading for the Jaguar paddock.

Congrats on your new purchase; have loved driving mine (have only been driving it on weekends, as my route to work is being repaved in sections - messy).

What is your color combination? I drove a 650i (triple black) for several years before I purchased my XKR convertible and I love the Indigo paint and caramel interior - much cooler (visually and temperature-wise).

Just an "easier-to-drive" and quicker car for me; I did not have an M6, but the 650i had plenty of power, although not as quick am my Cat (and nowhere near as rare). Funny, but now I see 650s every where I drive; have yet to see another XKR.

Oh, yes! That exhaust is amazing - as I said before it sounds like the God of Thunder garlgling with glass! Such an exotic sound - had a friend of mine drive it for me so I could hear the Cat drive by; man, what an incredible exhaust note!! Love to paddle shift it down under an overpass and nail it - it wails out like a monster...

Liquid silver and black is a really sharp combo; looks like a shark...

Since I'm getting ready myself to start looking for an 07 XKR conv., I am curious what was the purchase price for these 1 owner cars, now that they are 2 years old.....
