Default Front end hot to the touch...

Recently I brushed against the right front fender near the headlight and noticed that it was still very hot 3 hours after the engine was shut off. Checked the other side and same thing. Opened the hood and put my hand on the top of the engine...couldn't keep it there for more than 2 seconds because of the heat. This was at night and the car was in the garage.

Took it to the dealer and was told this is normal as "you can fry an egg on the engine." I'm a bit leery about that.

Has anyone else noticed this and am I overreacting?

Thanks.

Well, you probably can't fry an egg, but you can certainly boil one !

I think what you have found is normal, especially if its very warm where you are. Engines are a big lump, so take some time to cool off.

Is everything else behaving normally ?

I think so. If the engine is at it's normal temp while operating how long it takes to cool is irrelevant.

Does the fan kick on when you are driving?

If it's in the garage with the door closed, it's going to take longer to cool down as there is no airflow around the car.

Thanks to all for the feedback. I feel a bit better that all appears to be normal.

Regards,
