Fuel Injectors Stuck Open
Was on a coffee run, stuck in traffic jam for a good 45 minutes. Got my coffee, and headed back on parkway, got reduced performance, smell of gas and white exhaust. Had to get the car towed. Dealer worked with me... they were asking $420 per injector + labor... they let me bring in my own parts and I found the injectors on rock auto for $77 : https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...706588&jsn=459 . Oil change and plugs were also done. I had to pick up the car late, and didn't get to see the old injectors, but I had codes on both odd and even banks. I was tempted to tow the car home, and try to do the job myself, but had a lot going on at home at the time. Car was running perfectly fine before the sudden failure. Car is only at just over 60k miles, I use premium gas and put techron in 2x a year.

it is a 10 year old car…. and I don’t know of any other preventative maintenance for an injector.
Yes, dealer parts come at a premium, as do oem. But sometimes you get what you are paying for with aftermarket knockoffs.
Though many swear by it, I don’t use fuel additives or oil additives. Glad you’re up and running and you did the right thing by dealing with it immediately.

First point, Bosch 62120 injectors are not knockoffs, they are the oem injectors. The dealer wouldn't guarantee the work if one of the new injectors is bad... so yes there is some "value" to paying $420 vs $77 since they would take it all apart again and fix if one of the new injectors was bad on their dime.
On replacing all vs one bad injector, the way the codes get thrown, you can't tell which injector is bad, I had misfires on all even cylinders, and 1 cyl on the odd side. To find the bad injector, you would have to remove them, and clean and test each one... both for flow and spray pattern. Since you have to pull all the injectors, and replace the teflon seals on each injector ($30 per injector), replacing all injectors at $77 (which includes the new seals already installed) each starts to make sense since everything is already apart. There are images around that show what the injectors look like after 50 or 60k miles, and if one is gummed up, the others probably are just as bad.
I would have gotten the old injectors out of curiosity, but like I said, it was late, and mechanics had gone home already. There are some services to refurbish them, but again, the price to refurbish direct injection type is pretty high, and makes almost no sense even to have as a backup set.

i got part 62120 from bosch's website for a GDI fuel injector compatible by make/model/year 2012, i presume that's just a typo where you wrote 6120, but more importantly wow they are $134 at autozone and $176 at oreilly's so you got a great deal. i had the seals on mine done along with a valve cover repair but maybe i should have just replaced them.

It's best to replace all 6 or 8 injectors on the AJ133/126 at the same time due to the amount of labour involved.
Check the fuel pressure once the injectors have been replaced to see if it's within specs. You can do this via a smart phone with a Bluetooth interface through the OBD port. Fuel pressure is 150 bar during start up and WOT; 30 bar at idle.

I put fuel additive in my car at half of the directed miles the bottle tells you to.it's a common issue with the fuel injectors going bad if you not keeping them clean.F-Types have it worst with their fuel injectors with this problem of the injectors going bad

interesting study…. is it the additional fuel and/or oil additive keeping them clean? or the use of superior, top-tier fuels and lubricants? I stick to the latter.
In all these years and miles I have changed them once. Which seems like normal wear and tear to me.
