Good news... Water pump & coolant pipe were replaced
I was able to get all service records from the Santa Barbara Jaguar dealer. Among them were two of great interest, both December 5, 2017 at 32,205 miles. One was addressing a low coolant report, and resulted confirmed water pump leak and replacement of unit. There were no charges, so it must have been under warranty. The other was replacement of the upper hose and coolant outlet pipe, per owner request. He was charged $738 for labor and parts.
Needless to say, I'm very happy about this!

Mufc, could you elaborate? Perhaps you are sure it wasn't replaced with an upgraded pump? Perhaps personal experience?

Ed, don't worry about it, no one can say for certain you will or won't have another water pump failure, that is opinion. My 2012 has never had a pump failure, 42k miles and 7 years, others have had several. Those who have reported it continue to tell about it, everyone else jumps on and adds to it so that every thread about car reliability turns into a "water pump" session that pegs it at a for sure failure part.
What will happen will happen...

What Mark said........ I'm pretty sure my water pump is the original. I bought the car off-lease from Park Place Jaguar and they didn't mention the water pump, and I've never had a problem. Not to say I WON'T, but so far so good. 67,000 or more now.
Ed - Given the date of the pump change (12/17); the chances are you have the latest pump design which probably means you won't have further troubles in the foreseeable future.
