Hi, Dave. I have a 2003 X-Type 2.5 and it has leaked since practically day one. I did have an issue with my water pump and had that replaced. If you go on-line and search for X-Types that are for sale, pay close attention to the coolant tank. In most pictures, the fluid level is not up to the top. So, my very trusty mechanic told me that unless it is spilling out, don't worry about it. I just watch the level and fill it as needed; which is not that often. I hope that this helps. Thanks. Bill

Did you the check the water pump? Mine was leaking through the bearings only when the car engine was running. Worth a check.

Thumbs down Coolant leak, need part name

I have a 2004 x type, i have a leak in a metal pipe located under the fuel injectors rail rack, this pipe seems to connect to the water pump on one side and to the upper radiator hose maybe on the other side, I need to know the exact name of this pipe in order to get it , could it the engine coolant inlet pipe or the waterpump coolant outlet pipe, can it be found as an aftermarket part or dealer only part and approximately how much. Also where could get a cooling system diagram with all parts, hoses and pipes noted for this car. Thanks in advance

Thanks. But the tricky part is my leak come from a L shape metal pipe hiding under the fuel injection rack not a radiator hose it might be connected to the a radiator hose but is definitely connected to the water pump on one side. Funnypart is the workshop manual does not show or even mention it.

Won't help immediately but forum sponsor SNG Barratt has a very nice printed parts catalog. Send them an email and they'll mail one to you. In the meantime you might browse their website to look at parts.

Coolant crossover pipe.

There are some o-rings on the ends that can fail and cause leaks.

The pipe itself is a tough part to break, and tough to find a replacement for, but any competent plumbing or hydraulics shop can build you a replacement if the pipe itself is leaking.

I'll lay odds on the o-rings.

Default leaking coolant x type 2005

Thanks a million you hit it right. Even the dealer parts dept could not identify it they asked me to bring the part since they could not find it in their data base, but I could not find the time yet to remove it, I am working full-time, it seems a bit tricky to get to.
