My wife's father never bought a car with Air Conditioning... his reason was "If it breaks it will cost too much to fix". He wouldn't even buy a USED car if it had AC.

Funny that, I remember when AC was optional in cars, living in a temperate clime, always thought that rather silly.

So, today marks the end of my chapter in the life of this car. At just shy of 180,000 miles and me pushing 52 I realized that I was dreading tearing into the engine for any future repairs. I've put around 60,000 miles in six years of commuter car use. Tags ran out in April and I didn't want to see it decay further out back with only a tarp for protection. As seen in the pictures, the paint is dead but the new owner plans on renewing it. Took it out for a haircut this morning and waved goodbye before lunch. With that exhaust burble and view over the dash during the final drive as a memory we are good. Still sad seeing it drive away.

Dad's looking at a '11 coupe with a fraction of the mileage, just because he enjoyed driving this one so much...

And because we can't part on a sad note, here's some updated pictures of my 1929 Ford model A speedster project. I made the hood this spring and then got a bit crazy with the rattle can satin royal blue. Buffed and wet sanding gave it a nice period shine. Hand painted the numbers and letters (to learn how). It's about the fastest feeling thing I own and it's only 45hp.

Sad to see the green turtle go. It’s been great riding along with you in the upgrade of a less than cared for XKR. I learned a lot from many of your challenges and solutions and I’m sure many other forum members equally enjoyed the 60,000 mile ride. It’s been great having you a member of the forum and hope you’ll come back from time to time and let us know of your ongoing projects. Good luck and onwards and upwards.
